grated quark cake

This was a pleasant surprise that came from my brother Michal, he sent me this recipe to try it out.
He really liked it when he visited our Aunty in Slovakia.
So I promised to give it a try and it was great, we all really liked it!

And tonight I felt like making it again…and it tastes great!

So this is how you make it:

400 g flour
250g Butter…
150g sugar
2 tsp vanilla sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 egg yolk
3 tbsp cocoa (or more for the color)

Mix all ingredients together and split into 2 and shape into 2 oblong shapes. This will make it easier for grating later. Place it in the fridge for ½ h.

150 g sugar
2 tsp vanilla sugar
3 egg yolks
Mix these together well.

250g quark /cottage cheese (smooth one)
1 tbsp Maizena
4 egg whites, whisked

Carefully fold the egg whites into the sugar/cottage cheese mixture.

On a sheet of baking paper grate half of the dough prepared earlier (cooled from the fridge).

On top of spread the cottage cheese filling.

Spread it as much you can towards the edges without it running off.

And lastly grate the other half of the dough from the fridge on top of the quark mixture.

Bake in the oven for 30 min at 180 degrees.
You will see that it is done when the adges are getting bit golden.
